Jean’s fascination with music began at the age of 6 when she began picking out melodies on her two octave xylophone. She began private piano lessons at the age of 7. She continued lessons throughout high school where she entered and won numerous solo piano competitions. She has also been a church pianist for 35 years. Her passion for music has continued to grow over the years and in 1994 she began writing and performing her own compositions. She also began writing orchestrations of her music adding other instrumentation to her lyrical piano compositions.
Her instrumental music has been aired on various radio stations across the country as well as internet radio stations such as Jango.com. She has performed benefit concerts for Agape Christian School, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and the Sartori Hospital Festival of Trees as well as performing at the V.I.P. reception preceding a Bill Cosby performance. Jean has performed at various locations throughout the Cedar Valley as a solo pianist including the Cedar Falls Women’s Club, Gallagher Blue Dorn Performing Arts Center, Debut Art Gallery, Farraday’s (Isle of Capri), Sunnyside Country Club, Elks Club, Centennial Oaks Country Club, Park Place (PIPAC) Events Center, and Von Mauer Department Stores. In 2000 Jean teamed up with vocal recording artists Wade Brinkopf and Jeff Reynolds to form the Contemporary Christian group “Reflections”. The group traveled throughout Iowa and surrounding states from 2000 – 2011 sharing their music. In 2010 and 2011 Jean attended workshops with Grammy Award winning pianist/composer David Lanz. Jean also won Honor Awards for two consecutive years as a finalist in the Great American Song Contest.
Jean continues to write/arrange music for solo piano, instrumental and vocal music. She is a regular pianist at Von Maur Department Store in Cedar Falls, IA and also performs at many local events and charities.
